Confessions of a scaredy cat, or my one day camping trip

 Hey gang!

I was so excited about going camping, Boy Wonder and I had been planning this for the entire month! We were so looking forward to this adventure. Exploring brand new wooded areas, photographing animals and other awesome things, and then the campfire, making s’mores, you know, the general things you look forward to when you pack a few belongings, grab a tent and then head into your nearby woods.

You may have just come across me on the internet but one of the things you will learn about me is that I love scary movies, I love to be scared. If I jump during a film, its a good time for me. 80’s and early teen slasher films are my general go tos but I enjoy anything that will scare me without being too gory.

I had never been camping before and it was definitely something that I wanted to experience, So I was all gung-ho on Saturday when Boy Wonder picked me up for my new excursion. The drive to East Fork was pretty uneventful, we arrived, decided we would walk around to see where a good place to set up camp would be when all of a sudden there was this torrential downpour for an entire hour.

I was so excited about it and we had been looking forward to it for so long, we just sat in the car and waited out the rain. Once it had stopped, we got out and walked around the trail area, but we didn't really like what we saw, so we decided to hop back in the car and go to the other side of the camping area, we found this adorable open field and it was right next to lake, and had parking for our car it was perfect! We got the tent set up with relatively little trouble, I was honestly pretty proud of myself.

We then set about setting up a hammock, which I had NO IDEA how difficult it was to get into one of those. It should be an Olympic event or a torture device! No wonder people laze about and spend whole days in there, with all the effort you used to get into it, I wouldn't be getting out of it any time soon!

While I was sitting in the hammock in the dark, with a branch or twig snapping behind me every couple of seconds I basically had a panic attack. It was the first one I've ever had, but I guess the slightly away from home atmosphere, being in the middle of the woods in the middle of the night in the dark, was just too unnerving for me.

I didn't even make it to Midnight. We packed up and was in bed before 1 is. Guess I just watched one scary movie too many. Halloween and Friday The 13th are my favorite franchises, and my imagination just got the better of me. I think I could do it again in a couple of years if I just don't think about it too much. The time I did spend out there was a lot of fun, and I got to see a few stars, but not as many as I'd hoped.
