Adventures with Spokhette #26: Shenanigans in Boudoir

 Hey Gang!

I had the most awesome opportunity the other day. I was invited to a suicidegirls shootfest near me. Suicidegirls is an unconventional modeling site that highlights the unique things about women. Tattoos, Disabilities, body modifications, curvy girls, the list goes on. I love everything about this site and what their doing.

A shootfest is when a bunch of girls gather around and get sets done for the site, the girls come from all over and its a great community event. Since the girls are so spread sometimes the only time they get to shoot is at a shootfest, so I thought it would be cool to offer to do some promotional shots that they can use in their portfolio, or on Instagram in between their shoots since the queue is pretty stretched out.  To my surprise they accepted and my foray into boudoir and nude pinup began. It’s a glorious world, and I am so happy to be a part of it.

I’ll only be posting my favorites, and the safe for work ones, Many of the girls have private snapchats, or patrons if you are interested in more than that, you should definitely check those out. I’ll leave all the instagram links below, so you can go show them some love.

We got to know each other, played board games, and explored the city we were in. I had an absolute blast, and I can’t wait to do it again.

Adventures W/Spokhette #26: Covington Pride

Hi Gang!

June is Pride Month! Although, I try to celebrate LGBTQA's, everyday including myself, I have actually never attended a pride parade. I knew I was going to be stuck working during the Cincinnati Pride, so I decided to hop over the river and visit Covington's. Originally, I thought I would just hop into the parade but once I got there and saw all the people that I didn't know, I decided that I would just get some great shots!

I filmed the entire thing, including me getting lost and then just happening upon the front of the parade, but I'll just put pictures in this post, and I'll upload the video to youtube later. I've already got a video set up for this week, so it might be next week.

Here are a couple of my favorite shots. I'll be posting more of them on the photography blog and in my portfolio so make sure you check it out!!

Have you ever been to pride?! Give me your tips on Twitter!

Confessions of a scaredy cat, or my one day camping trip

 Hey gang!

I was so excited about going camping, Boy Wonder and I had been planning this for the entire month! We were so looking forward to this adventure. Exploring brand new wooded areas, photographing animals and other awesome things, and then the campfire, making s’mores, you know, the general things you look forward to when you pack a few belongings, grab a tent and then head into your nearby woods.

You may have just come across me on the internet but one of the things you will learn about me is that I love scary movies, I love to be scared. If I jump during a film, its a good time for me. 80’s and early teen slasher films are my general go tos but I enjoy anything that will scare me without being too gory.

I had never been camping before and it was definitely something that I wanted to experience, So I was all gung-ho on Saturday when Boy Wonder picked me up for my new excursion. The drive to East Fork was pretty uneventful, we arrived, decided we would walk around to see where a good place to set up camp would be when all of a sudden there was this torrential downpour for an entire hour.

I was so excited about it and we had been looking forward to it for so long, we just sat in the car and waited out the rain. Once it had stopped, we got out and walked around the trail area, but we didn't really like what we saw, so we decided to hop back in the car and go to the other side of the camping area, we found this adorable open field and it was right next to lake, and had parking for our car it was perfect! We got the tent set up with relatively little trouble, I was honestly pretty proud of myself.

We then set about setting up a hammock, which I had NO IDEA how difficult it was to get into one of those. It should be an Olympic event or a torture device! No wonder people laze about and spend whole days in there, with all the effort you used to get into it, I wouldn't be getting out of it any time soon!

While I was sitting in the hammock in the dark, with a branch or twig snapping behind me every couple of seconds I basically had a panic attack. It was the first one I've ever had, but I guess the slightly away from home atmosphere, being in the middle of the woods in the middle of the night in the dark, was just too unnerving for me.

I didn't even make it to Midnight. We packed up and was in bed before 1 is. Guess I just watched one scary movie too many. Halloween and Friday The 13th are my favorite franchises, and my imagination just got the better of me. I think I could do it again in a couple of years if I just don't think about it too much. The time I did spend out there was a lot of fun, and I got to see a few stars, but not as many as I'd hoped.

Have you gone camping before? Got any Tips? Talk to me about it on Twitter!

Adventures With Spokhette #24: The Art Museum

Hey Gang!

I know I've been talking about being more creative this year, but this post is all about the awesome shots, Sheneal and I got while we were exploring the art museum and the surrounding area. I have been trying to get over the weight of my dslr by carrying it around with me everywhere, and I may be developing arm muscles because of it!

We started on the outside of the museum and worked our way up to and through the second floor. There were lots of awesome figures, and frames that I latched on to, one day, I'll walk through there and photograph the actual people, but lets, be real people, baby steps are the plan here.

After exiting the Museum, we drove down the hill and photographed some adorable dogs and portraits of each other in and around the gazebo. There's just something about the Gazebo that speaks to me, it's just so beautiful. The flowers were much more in bloom this time, than they were during easter, I had so much fun getting really close and practicing some macro photography with the blooming foilage.

Sheneal and I both braved the rocky and broken ledge to get some awesome shots, I climbed my higher than her and instantly regretted it, it's a lot more uneven the higher you go, and my buttcheeks definitely did not approve. I do love the pictures I got of her, and she of me, while I was up there, so I guess it was worth it.

I'm thinking of getting a gopro, or something similar to put on top of my K1000, so I don't have to carry my phone in order to vlog it, I want to work on being able to bring photography to my youtube channel as well.

Have you been to the art museum lately?

Adventures with Spokhette #23: Oak Hill Cemetary and Portraiture

Hey Gang!

My number one goal for 2018, is to be more creative. I want to spend the entire year doing lots of different type of creative things, and completing awesome projects, I mainly want to do more with my photography, digital and film. My friend Sheneal, is taking a photography class, and since we were already going out to do her pictures, I figured I'd bring along my Canon, and attempt some photography as well!

Ever since I remodeled my photography site, to be more on hand, I noticed that I hadn't shot anything digital. I was scanning in my film prints so I could show it to you, but I hadn't realized that going out with Sheneal was the first time I broke out my Canon 70D in 2018. Which is just absolutely unacceptable!

We gave ourselves over to the elements during this adventure. We wanted to get some pretty artsy shots in, so we were standing inbetween branches, and hiding in the trees and bushes, and braving the snow that had decided to randomly fall. We wrapped out Cameras in plastic bags to protect them, and our hands, fingers, and feet was frozen solid by the end of it. We were only out there for 30 minutes I think.

We had lunch at O'Charleys, my first time there by the way. Sheneal got the Steak and Chicken Tenders (you read that right) I got the Salmon and Steak, and we shared Overloaded Potato Skins, which were delicious! There was an adorable bench in the foyer, so we took some pictures there too!

Halloween Lowdown

 Hi Gang.

Every year, October is my favorite month. Every year, I have an entire month of Halloween-y content. However, the last week of September up until now has been pretty rough for me. I've been fighting depression, and fighting to have any motivation to create at all. I'm actually pretty upset about the lack of content I was able to churn out for October and I definitely want to apologize for it. In this post, I'm literally going to run down all of the things I did in October that was Halloween related that didn't make it to the blog.

 Had a Halloween Party.

Excluding last year, I have a party every year for Halloween. I invite over all my friends, and they bring snacks and their favorite scary movie and it's a bit like a giant sleepover. I wasn't able to have one last year because we were preparing to move into our new place, and alas, I had to put aside my Halloween fervor for a packing one instead. We made wings and had way too much candy. We watched The Munsters: Munster, Go Home ( it was the first time I had seen it.) and played several rounds of Never Have I Ever and Tonk. It started about nine p.m. and the last guest left at three am. Needless to say, the boy wonder and I were worn out.

 I put together 3 costumes.

Throughout the month of October, I put together three different costumes! I created a set of unicorn ears and horn for the My Little Pony premiere, I streamed the process on twitch, and filmed a video after the movie, in the theater parking lot. I also wrote about my thoughts on the film here, if you're interested.

I put together a Raven costume, for the future premiere of the live action Teen Titans program. I am so excited about the show, now that I've actually seen the cast. So much inclusivity, yaaaaas Ryan Park!

Lastly, for the last three years, I have D.I.Y.ed my halloween costume, because your girl ain't rich and sometimes, you just gotta go with what ya got. I did a tutorial for my Vulpix ears, and I use that to make all the ears that I created. I decided that because my hair is now blue, it would be fun to be a pokemon, so I decided on Glaceon!

I painted for the first time in a while.

Honestly the last time I can remember painting, was two christmas's ago when The Boy Wonder and I painted our pokeball ornaments. I thought it would be super fun to paint our plastic pumpkins. I turned the white one into Jason, with the help of some markers, but since the black one made it difficult to see the markers I had to resort to paint, I was honestly very very excited about how it turned out, because I am not a great artist. I painted the black pumpkin to look like Blacula. I was very proud when my father knew who it was.

 I finished two books.

During the month of October I finished two books, Someone Must Die by Sharon Potts and Madame X by Jasinda Wilder. I expanded on Someone Must Die on Monday, with my Novels post. Madame X is about a woman who has no idea of her past, and has no memories. Caleb found her , "saved her" and taught her. She now molds boys into men worthy of running multi million dollar companies. She's a groomer. She doesn't know anything other than inside her books, her room and Caleb. So when, Caleb allows her to accompany a client to a mixer, her world is shattered. Enter the interesting, suave, and different love interest, Logan. I don't want to spoil too much, but I did enjoy the read. The Boy Wonder considers it lady porn, if that floats your boat.

I went a Little crazy at Michaels.

Michaels is an amazing place. They literally have something for every hobby you could possibly think of. When they sent me three different coupons for Halloween decor, how could I say no? So counting everything, I grabbed four different types of lights, 4-yard stakes in shapes of ghosts, bats, and skulls, A ghostly radio with different spooky channels, two skulls, one black velvet and one black plastic. A Nevermore Pendant banner, A small bird cage, a glass filligree frame that says Enter if you dare, and a beware plaque.
